President's Welcome!

I was lucky enough to be asked to attend the visit by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Patron of New Zealand RDA, at Wellington Group in late February.  She, and her husband, Sir Tim Lawrence, were very generous with their time, talking to riders and volunteers and handing out commemorative rosettes at the end.

An article describing the event can be found here

But wait there’s more …

On a more personal note, this will be my last newsletter writing to you as President.  I will be stepping down, effective from our AGM this quarter.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as President and the results we have achieved since I first joined North Shore RDA in 2015 as Treasurer.  I was appointed President 5 years ago and at that time we defined our strategic goals for the next 5 years.  Wind forward 5 years and most of the major goals have been completed or are well in hand so I feel it’s the right time for a new President to step in and drive the next 5-year strategic plan.

I don’t intent to ease up my NS RDA workload though, as I hope to remain with the Governance committee and drive Marketing and Fundraising for 2023.  In addition NZ RDA, have invited me to join the National Board so there will be plenty of work still to be done for Riding for the Disabled.

I am also very happy to report we have identified my successor who will be put to the Members at our upcoming AGM and we will provide you full details in the next edition.
