A Grand turnout for Opening of our Arena Roof

What a turn out we had for the Grand Opening of our new Arena Roof with over 120 people attending the event officiated by Tom Webster of Grand Designs NZ and our President Tim Lofts 😊

Smart Shelters constructed the roof and were there to provide a fantastic burger lunch and drinks for all from their mobile kitchen. Well done Jon Cottle and the team at Smart Shelters.

One of the highlights of the opening was the opportunity to demonstrate what we do, with a wonderful exhibition of riding by regular NSRDA riders guided by Coach Judith and volunteers. The opening was followed by a full-on demonstration of the powerful sprinkler system installed in the arena to dampen dust and keep the area cool in the heat of summer.

A huge thank you to Tom Webster for giving up his time to support us and what we do in the community.

Lots of hard work was put in beforehand by volunteers who put fresh coats of paint on lots of fenceposts with paint generously donated by Bunnings Silverdale. The Volunteer team also cleared weeds and did a general tidy up. Thank you to Winstone Aggregates for donating two truckloads of stone for us to spread and compact on the pathways leading up to the arena.

Having a roof over our arena means so much to our riders. No more cancelled riding in wet or stormy conditions and on hot days riders will now be protected from the heat. A Big thank you again to our wonderful funders, New Zealand Community Trust, Lottery Grants Board, Pub Charity Limited, North and South Trust, Foundation North, and a number of private donors for their grants and donations, making our arena roof possible.
