Aubrey loves to chat
Written by Aubrey's mum - Jodi Aubrey started riding at North Shore RDA as soon as she turned 4 years old and Lenny was front and centre of her mind from her first day of riding. We had to stop telling her when it was her day for riding Lenny as she couldn't handle having to wait until 9am. Lenny has been so close to her heart that her response when asked 'What do you say, Aubrey?' was always 'Walk on Lenny', rather than the expected 'Please' or 'Thank you'. It's been so nice having an activity that excites her that she can focus on that is constantly building her skills and confidence. She's even given short presentations to her class about her favourite pony, Lenny.
Aubrey is now 5 years old and in her second year at North Shore RDA. She's had the opportunity to ride Abby and Cruise and is quite aware of their different personalities and paces, still getting excited for whoever she gets to ride. Her favourite part of her ride is the games they all play up in the arena. She chatters non-stop with her walkers which demonstrates how confident she has become in the saddle. Her biggest challenge has been learning to process and carry out a set of instructions which has also been her focus at home.
We look forward to Aubrey being able to issue instructions to her pony using her seat, legs and reins, as well as her voice.
Thank you to all those at RDA who give their time and provide so much encouragement and care.
